Nerikomi is a Japanese technique which involves the folding of coloured clay. This technique creates patterns drawing on the  abundant inspiration from nature. Each plate is cut, folded and moulded from the same block of coloured clay creating variation in an organic way.

About the maker: Mystery Creek is the brainchild of Alex Wilkinson, a ceramic artist based in Waikato, New Zealand. Alex was drawn to the randomness of the nerikomi process. Alex loves the serendipity of the process finding it incredibly cathartic.
